Dr. Geller strikes again
Wristband Number: 15206
I saw Dr. Geller speak for the first time around 2009 at a safety conference in Orlando. His concepts and stories changed the way I thought about safety. I had been an operations manager in manufacturing for 6 years and I looked at safety much like I looked at every metric in front of me… get results. His speech resonated and he made a comment I still use today, “Would you hold your family accountable if they got hurt or had an incident?” Wow, that hit home and made me see the people around me completely differently.
Fast-forward to February 2019 and someone asked me if I knew anyone that could come and speak at our leadership conference on brother’s keeper and seeing safety differently. I said one name, Scott Geller. When I told the safety director he laughed and said he is too famous we will never get him. A phone call and an email later he was at our company leadership meeting. I walked right up shook his hand and told him he changed the way I thought about and managed safety. I was a little star struck, but he was so thankful and kind. He gave me this bracelet and told me my story resonated with him and it motivated him to keep driving to actively care for others. He gave a great presentation and was exactly what you would expect. He even did the cookie thief poem for us!!
So now I wear this green bracelet eager to give it to someone that does something kind or generous that shows they are actively caring.
Sincerely,
Paul W.
